Sunnyslope, AZ – Free Clothes, Free Food, All Welcome.

Three years ago we recognized a significant outreach opportunity in the neighborhood near our Hall. It is a poor neighborhood consisting of primarily low-income rental properties with many homeless people, and a high incidence of crime.

We decided to put together a day that would enable us to reach out to the neighborhood using 'out of the box' thinking. We put up a sign at the Hall to let the Believers know that we were planning a day to give stuff away to the neighborhood. All were invited to bring anything they would like to give away.

Donations from the believers started pouring in. Some of the Christians took a huge interest in this activity and within a couple weeks we had gathered a plethora of items. 

Because of the interest and support from the assembly, this is our third year to be able to hold the ‘Community Outreach Day’ in our Hall parking lot.

Typically it goes like this:

We collect anything including blankets, books, clothes, and many other items. To these many donations we add many Gospel tracts and free Bibles. 

On the day of the 'Community Outreach Day' we arrive at the Hall around 5am to begin preparations. We sort out all of the clothing by male and female and for infants. We then pick up doughnuts, pastries, coffee and drinks for those from the neighborhood who will be stopping by. We want to give them something to eat in addition to the free items they will go home with from our tables. 

 The event starts at 8:30am. For everyone that stops in, we provide them with a bag in which to put their free items. They are also given a Gospel tract and an invitation to our Monthly Pizza Gospel night. With a bag in hand, they are then invited to start 'shopping' for free items from our loaded tables.

An effort is made to speak to them one on one to invite them to our Gospel meetings and to inquire of their souls condition. 

A mother and daughter in this picture lived only two streets away and never knew what the Hall was all about. She and her daughter now attend Sunday School every Lord’s Day.
